CLUB SWIMS – Open Water

Open water swimming is an integral part of triathlon racing. From April, the temperatures in the nearby lakes and rivers becomes warm enough to swim. Viceroys TC are proud to be linked to Train FRESH – lake in Shepperton. The water is crytal clear and free of weed.  Directions can be found on their website.  The course is 750m long and there is a 1 mile running trail around the outside for a post swim run. At £4 a swim, this is the best lake around. The club will hold weekly coached sessions once the lake opens up.

WEEKLY AQUATHONS

Thorpe Lake and Rick Kiddle. Rick runs low key weekly Monday night aquathons from 6pm on the back lake. 400m swim followed by 3km trail run. perfect for a tasty session. check out Rick Kiddle coaching and NOWCA for more details

Although you can swim without a wetsuit, it is always recommended to wear a triathlon specific wetsuit for both buoyancy and warmth. It is also suggested that you have a couple of swim caps in case the water is still ‘fresh’, spare goggles in case you break a pair and some anti friction cream such as Body Glide to avoid getting a sore neck.
